fun run

UPLB and the UPLB Alumni Association (UPLBAA) will hold KapaligiRUN, a fun run for the benefit of the protection and conservation of the Mt.Makiling Forest Reserve on October 8 during the celebration of the 93rd Loyalty Day and Alumni Homecoming.

KapaligiRUN is one of the activities slated during the celebration that has been themed "UPLB Leads Green," which will run from October 8-10, 2011. The theme encapsulates UPLB and the UPLBAA's continuing and reinvigorated thrust towards a greener, sustainable, secure, and safer environment. UPLB and UPLBAA have partnered to promote the GREEN advocacy in the campus and in the entire country.

Through KapaligiRUN, UPLB and the UPLBAA aim to generate funds that will be used for integrated development programs of the Makiling Forest Reserve (MFR) and other beautiful spots in the UPLB campus into one of the country's leading ecotourism destinations. The MFR is a 4244-ha natural tropical rainforest and a biodiversity hotspot teeming with thousands of plant species, including more woody plant species than what can be found in the entire United States. The MFR is the last natural forest in this biogeographical zone, making its conservation imperative.

KapaligiRUN will start from UPLB's historic Baker Hall and will take the participants, whether they may have signed up for the 3K, 5K, 10K, or 21K run, to scenic areas in and outside the campus such as PIli Drive, Makiling Botanic Gardens, Magnetic Hill, and many others.

Corporate sponsors and participants are invited to take part in KapaligiRUN. For more information, call Belinda Costales at +63 49 536-4649 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..(UPLB Link)
