Mr. Rey David Sibuma Lacson donated an amount of two million pesos to UPLB Alumni Association (UPLBAA) on May 2, 2012 at NTG Conference Room, UPLB Alumni Center. This donation has been given in support to the Alumni Plaza Development Project of the UPLBAA. UPLBAA President Simeon A. Cuyson together with the UPLBAA Treasurer Jovita L. Movillon received the donation in the presence of former UPLB Chancellor Ruben L. Villareal and some UPLBAA board members.
The donor (Cip Lacson) was the President of the Manila Teachers Savings and Loan Association as well as the Lacson Commercial and Industrial Corporation. Likewise, he was also an active member of the Upsilon Sigma Phi Fraternity.
The true spirit of being a scholar para sa bayan was well lived by Mr. Lacson during his days, he was humbly thankful to the university for his education and for what he had become. According to his son, Mr. Cip Lacson attributed his UP education and training that equipped him with the values, skills and knowledge he needed to accomplish his milestone in life.
His steadfast dedication to his Alma Mater was deeply invigorated in his heart and mind. Mr. Lacson exemplified an extraordinary individual with a generous heart that demonstrated kindness and concern for others in need. To honor and commemorate his legacy as a philanthropist, the family supports the completion of the Alumni Plaza. Lacson’s marriage to Filomena Sibuma Lacson gave them three children, Virgilio, Jennifer, and Rey David.
The Alumni Plaza is envisioned to develop a park that will serve as a place for relaxation and appreciation to a well-kept, clean, safe, green beautiful landscape. Moreover, it aims to recognize and embody UPLB alumni’s contributions to the university and to nation-building.(PXMADelosReyes)
