21 UPLB alumni participate in HGDG Training-Workshop

All the 21 participants are UPLB alumni of the training-workshop. Sponsored by the UPLB Gender Center, the two-day activity was held in Hotel Elizabeth, Baguio City on May 17-18, 2018.

Entitled “Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) Training Workshop for UPLB”, the two-day workshop had Ms. Vichel Rse E. Juguilon-Pangan as resource speaker.

All nine colleges of UPLB had representatives and also the administrative offices of UPLB such as the Office of the Chancellor and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension.

The HGDG focuses on the process, strategies, and the development and management results of integrating gender equality and women’s empowerment concerns in various stages of the project cycle.

The guidelines consist of three parts. Part 1 focuses on a core set of requirements while Part II deals with Gender and Development (GAD) guidelines for the development of certain types of projects, or projects in particular sectors. Part III presents GAD checklist for the management, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of development projects.

The participants were clustered into eight groups. After which, they presented their output. All the REPS of Office of Alumni Relations attended the workshop. They are Imelda S. Mariveles, University Extension Specialist; Paully May Z. Valencia, University Extension Associate; and Ezra Mae T. Abundo, University Research Associate. They presented a research proposal entitled “Gender analysis of UPLB alumni: Its impact on actual occupation vis-à-vis the courses they have taken at UPLB.
