UP Alumni Association (UPAA) held its annual UP Alumni Council with this year’s theme “Walang Humpay ang Tagumpay: Tungo sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran” on June 24, 2016 at Ang Bahay ng Alumni, UP Campus, Diliman, Quezon City.

UP Alumni Council, the advisory body of UPAA, holds an annual meeting in order to draft and pass resolutions presented for endorsement to the general membership at the General Homecoming. These resolutions are to be submitted to the UP alumni in Congress and in the Senate for aid in legislation, to the Board of Regents, and to appropriate government and private agencies for reference in formulation of policies.

Three distinguished UP alumni for 2016 served as resource speakers at the panel discussion of the meeting. Ms. Amina Rasul-Bernardo, this year’s UPAA Most Distinguished Alumna, discussed about “Peace, Security, and Development”; Dr. Dante M. Velasco, 2016 UPAA Distinguished Alumnus in Communication, talked about “Communicating Your Agenda in Public and Private Governance under a Climate of Freedom”; and Dr. Cornelio G. Banaag, Jr., 2016 UPAA Lifetime Distinguished Service Awardee, emphasized on “Urbanization and Communication Technology: Impact on Child Development.”

UP Los Baños participated in the meeting and was represented by UPLB Chancellor – Dr. Fernando C. Sanchez Jr., former Director of UPLB Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) – Dr. Mimosa C. Ocampo, current director of OAR – Dr. Sue Liza C. Saguiguit, OAR Staff – Ms. Patrice Delos Reyes (BSB ‘04, MSDC ‘15) & Ms. Jessica Tapia (BSDC ‘15), UPLBAA President – For. Leo R. Ballesfin, and UPLBAA Executive Assistant – Ms. Nahja P. Macatula (BSF ‘08).
