College of Law dean, new UP President

Dean Danilo L. Concepcion of the UP College of Law ascends as the 21st UP President, assuming office on February 10, 2017.

Concepcion earned his degree, Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering in De La Salle Araneta University, summa cum laude, in 1979. He topped the licensure examination for agricultural engineers. In 1983, he finished his Bachelor of Laws at the University of the Philippines Diliman, cum laude, also garnering a top spot in the Bar examinations. He was also a Chevening scholar in Queen Mary College of the University of London, earning his Master of Laws in 1986.

In 1996, he was appointed to the Securities and Exchange Commission as its Associate Commissioner.

In 2000, he became the president of De La Salle Araneta University.

In 2002, he came back to University of the Philippines as the Associate Dean of the UP College of Law, Director of the Institute of Judicial Administration, and Head of the UP Law Center.

In 2011, he was chosen as the 14th dean of the UP College of Law. Also, he was the executive director of the UP Bonifacio Global City campus before being chosen as the 21st UP President.
